the aiguillette today

L’Aiguillette is located in the heart of the Serre Chevalier valley, an authentic valley in the Hautes-Alpes department, to the north of the Southern Alps, on the borders of Italy, between Col du Lautaret and Briançon. Serre Chevalier extends over 28 km and includes a town, Briançon, 3 flagship villages and 11 hamlets.

The Village of Chantemerle

Chantemerle, nestled along the Guisane, is one of the 4 villages of the commune of Saint-Chaffrey, known in particular as being one of the gateways to the ski area of the Serre-Chevalier resort: it is even in 1941 that the Le Serre-Chevalier Cable Car was inaugurated: the first ski lift in Serre-Chevalier, the longest in Europe at the time, which allows you to reach the Serre-Chevalier summit (2491m). Our famous muse, the skier Luc Alphand, spent part of his childhood in Chantemerle.

Between chapels, churches, fountains, sundials, the streets of this traditional mountain village are full of cultural heritage which bears witness to a rich history, in the heart of the valley, linked to Briançon, city of Art and History.
